This website showcases the work of Syrinx Lab artists, designers, composers and sound engineers, a loose collective of freelancers sprinkled around New Zealand.
We have integrated into its design fragments of graphic scores by our colleague composer/artist Mark Langford (the white circles below are extracted from one of his scores). Graphic scores are a form of musical notation—often, although not always—designed to be interpreted and played by musicians. This form of notation transcends traditional visuospatial aesthetics by considering an extra layer of sonic possibility, a unique dimension intrinsic to its mystery, beauty and strangeness.
